Labor Day Weekend

Things around here have been so busy the past few weeks so it was definitely nice to relax this weekend. It seems like we've been rushing around so much that we haven't been able to enjoy any time together. Riley started his MBA program last week, I'm now on my own at work, and we just signed our contract to start building our home. They will start digging on Wednesday! To say that I am excited is an understatement.

Savanna and Kigan decided to come visit from D.C. this weekend, and we were so excited. It is a new trial being so far away from Utah and family, so any family time we can get is cherished. Savanna and Kigan got here late Friday night from a long ten hour drive. Saturday morning was spent enjoying a yummy breakfast and just catching up on each others lives. The rest of the day we had a lot of fun strolling down Bardstown road in the rain, bowling, four-wheeling, and eating lots and lots of yummy food. Owen has been quite the trooper, squeezing in his naps here and there. His auntie Savanna just loves to wear him right on out.

Sunday was spent sleeping in accidentally, arriving late to church (but still enjoying the wonderful Spirit felt there), enjoying an afternoon nap, eating Sunday roast and mashed potatoes, and visiting Riley's aunts and uncles. We were planning on going rock climbing today which I was super excited for, but of course it was raining and the indoor gym was closed. Bummer! So instead, we went shopping to forever 21 and to the Bourne Legacy. Another parenting lesson reminder today: Do not take your baby to the theater no matter how good of a baby they are. I literally saw ten-fifteen minutes of the movie, but that's okay. Owen and I thoroughly enjoyed roaming the halls of the theater.  He's more entertaining anyway:) Riley came out after a few minutes and we decided to just leave since Owen wasn't lovin it.  We found a beautiful little park with a walking trail that we will have to explore more.  After the movie was over we all went and ate at steak 'n shake and said our goodbyes. We hate seeing Savanna and Kigan leave, but are so grateful they took the time to come visit.

We have so much to be grateful for today. Something I'm most grateful for today is that neither Riley or I had to work. Any day that we can have off together is a blessing. Zirmed (the company Riley works for) has a great schedule. He shouldn't have to work any weekends or holidays. Being a staff nurse isn't the best job if you want all holidays and weekends off, but I did luck out today. We'll just have to wait and see what happens for these upcoming big holidays. Who knows what will happen, I am just thankful to have a good job and loving family.  Happy labor day weekend everyone!

New to this thing called blogging

I've finally decided to start a blog. I enjoy reading others' blogs so much that I figured I should be writing down my own memories to cherish.  I'm excited to be dedicated to this so in the future we have happy, fun things to look back at. It may take me awhile to make this cute, so forgive me. Riley started this blog for a school assignment about a year ago, so I told him I was just gonna take it over. He was more than happy to let me:)
So, thank you everyone that have been so faithful to their adorable blogs. You have made me laugh, cry, and smile, but most of all you have inspired me to get my own started! Here's to bloggin!
